The train station was packed full of people, both muggles and wizards alike, all going to different places. For seventeen year old Charisma Carter, it was off to Platform 9 3/4 for another year of schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This was to be her final year attending, as seventeen was when wizards came of age. Needless to say, she was rather excited.
A quick run through what appeared to be a large stone structure and the girl was there. She grinned, already seeing a few familiar faces here and there. She looked over her shoulder as her two grandparents, Pepe Tom and Meme Kass, came through as well.
"I'll never get use to that blasted magical contraption." murmured Pepe under his breath, running a hand through the white whisps of what was left of his hair. He was, as usual, clad in a red plaid shirt and denim overalls, looking like anything but a wizard. This could be attributed to the fact that he was a sheep farmer, but it was obvious that those passing by with wondering eyes were not privvy to that bit of information.
Kind brown eyes from Meme Kass turned on Charisma, "Have everything, dear?" she asked.
The girl nodded. "Yep. Even made a list and checked it twice." she replied. She noted the hint of sadness in their faces, most likely at the prospect of not being able to see their granddaughter until summer once more. "Don't worry. It'll be over before you know it." Riss continued, giving them both hugs.
"Write often, Rissie. And have fun, but don't do anything stupid." advised Pepe Tom, bringing a chuckle from his granddaughter.
"I'm a teenager, Pepe." she said, "It's against my genetic make-up not to do anything stupid."
He replied with a non-commital snort, but she didn't miss the grinning twinkle in his eye.
"Well, you better get going. Wouldn't want to miss your train." said Meme after a few more moments of goodbye. Riss nodded and after one last hug and a kiss on the cheek, grabbed her bag and boarded the train.
Seeing as how there were still students waiting to get away from the grasps of hesitant parents, it wasn't long until she found an empty compartment. After stowing her suitcase, she took a seat next to the window, putting a black book-bag next to her. It wasn't long until a small calico kitten crawled out, his amber eyes glancing up at her before settling into her lap.
"Ready for your first train ride, Hawk?" she asked the kitten, scratching him behind the ears. Hawk, short for Hawkeye, meowed appreciatively. He was a gift from her grandparents this year as a birthday/welcoming back/coming of age sort of party. It was quite the event.
Riss pulled her dark brown locks, currently straight and falling about her shoulders, into a low ponytail though a few stubborn strands near the front fell from its hold and rested against her cheek. She gave a soft sigh and looked out the window, waiting for the others to board and the train to start moving.

"Brianna Alyssa Lorings! Slow down!"
These were the desperate shouts that emitted from the mouth of Todd Lorings as he hurried after the teenager that was his daughter several feet ahead of him, the sixteen-year-old dashing madly toward the magical barrier that led to Platform 9 3/4. The ash-colored owl that sat perched in his cage twittered continuously as the cart upon which his cage was set veered left and right, several adults leaping out of the way, shaking their fists irritably as Brianna uttered quick apologies.
"I can't, Dad! We're going to miss the train!"
Dark,, murky brown optics shut momentarily as Brianna continued straight at the large rock wall, almost as if bracing herself to make contact with the stone. She, of course, never did.
Smiling slightly as she passed through onto Platform 9 3/4, Brianna turned her head as her father appeared beside her, panting.
"I swear, with you it's like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands," he said at last, a teasing smile tugging at the sides of his mouth. Brianna grinned sheepishly, allowing herself to be pried from her cart and pulled into Todd's tight embrace.
"Now, remember to write at least twice a week,"
"Yes, Dad."
"Do well in your studies,"
"I know, Dad."
"Win Ravenclaw the Quidditch Cup--" He was suddenly cut off by yet another blow of the engine's whistle. "And please, don't get in too much trouble."
Brianna gave a small laugh. "Do I ever?"
"No, no you don't." Gazing longingly at the scarlett train, Todd gestured toward it. "I suggest you get going then. The last thing you want is to be left behind."
Releasing his daughter, Todd smiled as Brianna gave a quick kiss before beginning to worm her way through the crowd, already catching sight of a few familiar faces. Dragging her luggage along with one hand, Thorn, her owl, in the other, she searched for a hopefully empty compartment, giggling softly with giddy excitement. She was going back to Hogwarts...going back home.

Alexandra Alaric slipped out of the backseat of her father's car, parked in the lot at Kings Cross Satation. Gathering her things from the trunk, she began to move them into the station. Her final time... The girl couldn't believe it. The pair hurried, not wanting to be late. Alexandra had just completed packing that morning...
"Here we are." She said to her father, and the pair leaned against the barrier. No muggled stopped as the two disappeared, cart and all, into the barrier.
"Now, Alexandra, just because this is your final year, you cannot slack off in your studies. Do you think I got to where I am by slacking off?" He asked, looking at her sternly.
"Well, there is no need to worry about my. I have no interest in slacking. But if you became what you are by slacking, maybe I do." She answered, smirking a little. Of course she didn't want to end up like him, no matter how much he wanted her to.
"Alexandra, I am not joking about this. You may not allow yourself to get bad marks."
"I won't, don't worry. Now, I'll be fine, you can leave."
"And Alexandra..."
"Yes?"
"Be careful."
Alexandra hoisted her things after her, heading for the train and away from her father. Finally. She had thought the summer would never end. Dark this, Dark that. She didn't have any interest at all in the dark arts. On the contrary, she had an interest in becoming an Auror.

There was one benefit to being a twin, Fabian mused as he pulled his trunk behind him onto Platform 9 3/4 and ignored the various cautions and yellings of his harried mother behind him, and that was that in times this hectice he rarely got yelled at in his full name, seeing as his mother had enough to keep on her plate without trying to tell her two mischeviously similar boys apart.
This year, however, it was a bit different. The yelling was more in the way of snuffles and tough "love", and the warnings were beyond her typical "Don't do anything sutpid and don't get expelled" lectures.
"Now, Fabian, Gideon, I want you two to write as often as you can and let me know what's happening. It is your seventh year..."
"Of course mum." Fabian tried to reassure her as he stopped and gingerly beant over to give her a hug and a peck on the cheek, "We'll write you and Molly whenever we get the chance. Right Gid?"
"Naturally." Gideon agreed, also giving his mum a squeeze and then grabbing his bag and waving, "But we've got to catch the train or you'll have tp put up with us even longer..."
She sinffed again and then waved them of, "Alright, alright. Behave!"
Gideon and Fabian exchanged glances and quick smiles as they both stepped aboard the train. Side-stepping other students, they began to squirm down the crowded compartment, trying to find an empty-ish compartment.

James Potter rolled his eyes and ran a hand through his messy, raven-black hair.
"Don't you roll your eyes at me, young man!" His mother ranted, pointing a finger at him, "I know all those pranks you get up to at school! I do not want you abusing your responsibilities!" She sighed. "All I want is for you to have a nice, quiet year at Hogwarts. Get good grades, be nice to people. Is that too much to ask?"
"No, Mum, it isn't. But we both know that it's just not going to happen. I'm too nice to be a perfect son." He smirked.
"How do you work that out?" His father asked over his mum's shoulder, a frown creasing his forehead.
"Well, if I started acting like a perfect son and began to study, Mum would be thrilled, but you'd wonder what was going on and what I was up to. You'd get all paranoid and, when I came home, you'd be looking over your shoulder every single secodn of the day until eventually you'd crack under the pressure." This was one of James' tactics; feed them a long, cock and bull story right before he left and it stopped any tearful and potentially reputaion-damaging goodbyes.
Laughing at his parent's confused look as they tried to make sense of what he had said, he turned swiftly and grabbed hold of his trolley. "See you next summer!" He smirked and ran forward through the barrier, as he did every September 1st.
Really, they should be used to it by now. He told himself, as though they had done something wrong. He dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out a shiny badge with 'HB' on it. He pinned it to his chest.
He lifted his trunk off the trolley, abandoning it in the middle of the platform, as he always did. His trunk - though it had more in it this year - seemed even lighter than ever. He had, over the summer, been working out. Sirius had made fun of him - where had Sirius gone off to? - but i had all payed off in the end.
He made his way through the train and sat in the Head compartment. However, he soon got bored. He would come back later. He made his way through the train, looking for someone he knew.
He finally found someone. He popped his head into the compartment. "Hey, Riss. Mind if I join you for a while?" Not that anyone would ever say no to him, of course. He wouldn't allow it. "Prefect car's empty."
ooc: Couldn't think of any other way to get him out of the Prefect Car.

"Bye..." her voice faltered a bit seeing as her mother had already scurried off, leaving her standing at the entrance to 9 and 3/4, "Mum.." she whispered the word Mum, as if to remember this last time she'd be stepping on the train for the first time of the year.
Lily's summer ahd been uneventful as of the least, a friend or two came and visited her, all muggles of course.
Lily sighed and looked around, readying herself for running into a wall, which infact was not really running into a wall, but...well, I won't go in to specifics.
She ran straight at the wall as soon as no one was looking, soon, more in a matter of seconds, she was on the other side; On Platform 9 and 3/4.
She felt a wave of nostalgia as she saw the big red train with students piling onto it. The 16 year old(going on 17) walked up to the train, grinning broadly as she pinned on a shiny new badge which had the letters "HG" engraved on it.
She pulled her truunk after her and looked for a familiar face. She sighed, not seeing anyone she knew that was outside of the train.
Lily stepped onto the train with her emerald colored eyes twinkling with a smile all their own. She flicked a peice of her long red hair out of her eyes. She looked into the compartment in which the prefects were supposed to be, and found it completely empty.
So thus she went on a chase loking for the Head boy, which she didn't know, just happened to be James Potter.
She looked in each compartment with a male seventh year student in it, as she passed one where a girl and boy were sitting in, she poked her head in, "Hello Riss," she said smiling at the girl.
Her eyes turned to the male, "Hello James," she said civilly. She looked over his clothing and noticed something new or different. It was the head boy badge. She saw this and her eyes widened.
"Oh no."

From the time she had entered the compartment to now, Charisma had already grown bored. As of yet, no one had joined her and this meant there was no one to talk to. She leaned back in the seat and put an elbow against the window, holding her chin in the palm of her hand and drumming the fingers of the other on the seat next to her. Just when she thought she was about to go mad, she heard someone say her name.
She perked up immediately, grinning at the boy who had entered and soon recognizing him. "Sure! Why would I turn you down?" she asked James, "What with that shiny new badge I see you've landed yourself with." she added, looking thoroughly impressed.
Not too long afterwards, another joined their number. Ah look! How appropriate that the new Head Girl also be joining them. "Hey Lily." she greeted, offering a smile. This smile grew into more of a grin when Lily's eyes landed on the Head Boy badge that James possessed. Oh... this was going to be interesting.

"May I join you?" Alexandra asked, stopping at the first compartment that contained someone who seemed familiar. Sure, they weren't all great friends, but that was how friends were made, right? Just sitting yourself in a pile of strangers?
Standing in the door, she waited for an answer. She noticed the badges on two of them, impressed. Head boy and girl in the same compartment. Well, when that compartment wasn't the Head's compartment...
OOC: Gah, its really short

"Hello, Lily," He was unable to restrain his giant smirk. I mean, come on, what would you do in his position? Be all quiet and avoid her eyes? As if. This was James Potter. "Thanks. What d'you mean, 'oh no'? That's real mature." Boy, was this going to be fun. "You could, you know, put the past behind you and deal with the present." Perhaps that wasn't the best thing to say, but he had to enjoy it while he could, right?
"Ha, yes, I see everyone is noticing my shiny new badge." He threw his trunk up into the baggage racks, running swiftly sideways when he missed. "Whoops. Sorry." He lifted it and carefully placed it in the luggage racks, then took a seat in the corner, so that he was looking towards the door, where Lily was. The scenery there is much more interesting than outside, He thought. He grinned his lopsided grin.
"Er," Who's she? Where'd she come from? Do I know her? He didn't think so. Still, it impressed him that she had the nerve to ask to sit with them. She must know who they were - everyone knew who he was ("Hey, isn't that James Potter? The guy who tortures Snivellus?) "Er, sure, I think. But I'm gonna have to go to the Head's compartment, soon, so it's not really my choice." He trailed off, looking at Riss. Usually, he would've just said yes - or no, if he was in a bad mood -, but he was trying to impress Lily... at least he was trying to be subtle this time...
OK. So maybe this 'growing-up' and 'being mature' thing was going to take a little time...

"Well, well, well, the gang's all here."
Still feeling rather exilerated, Brianna produced a small grin as she approached the small group, leaning almost casually against the door.
"'Lo there, Riss, James, Lily, Alexandra."
With all honesty, Brianna didn't know any of them extremely well. She only knew Potter because...well, come on. Who /didn't/ know who James Potter was (that, and she knew him from their various Quidditch matches during their previous years at Hogwarts)? Then there was Lily, James's one and only love interest for the past six years, and Riss and Alexandra...were just people she happened to know...kind of.
Eyes wandering to the badges pinned to James and Lily's robes, she arched an eye brow. James as Head Boy? Impressive.
But, judging by the look on her face, Lily most certainly wasn't happy.
'Oh, dear...'
ooc:// Whoa.../that/ was short.

Lily was quite quick on the uptake. "Well then, let me rephrase that, Oh boy." With that she went off to the Head's compartment in peace.
"What a nerve! Putting him as the Head Boy! What was the head master thinking?" she tohught aloud.
She angrily swung her things up above her head into the rack. She then plopped onto her seat and stared out the window longingly. "I wish I could be out there with the wind and sun. Oh, why do I have to be stuck with...with...James Potter as head boy?" she whispered to herself.
Then her mood suddenly changed. "I can make the best out of it! I'll be more mature toward him this year, at least civil if not mature. I'll whip him into shape." But then her mind went back to the meeting in the compartment and she sighed.
'This'll never work.'
Lily then pulled her hair into a loose, and messy bun and pulled out a book on Advanced Charms. She settled into her seat with her book and began reading.
ooc| Oh dear...expect edits on this with length.

Charisma smiled at the two newcomers. "Hey! 'Course you can. The more the merrier, right?" she replied. She thought she recognized both of them and remembered their names (Alexandra and Brianna, right?) so it wasn't going to be too terribly awkward. There was nothing more awkward than sitting with a bunch of people you didn't know. Then again, there wasn't anything that could turn out to be more interesting either.
She chuckled as Lily left, obviously not too happy with the idea of James being Head Boy. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say she was upset." she commented with a hint of a smile, not really to anyone in particular. They weren't even at school yet and she could already tell this was going to be one heck of a year.

James groaned. "Typical. What'd I say? I didn't do a thing! Well, as much as I would like to stay, you guys enjoy the ride... doesn't look like I will." He grimaced, standing up. "I better go straighten things out." With an almost pained expression, he left the compartment. So where would Lily have gone? The obvious choice was the Prefect carriage, which was where he was headed now. Of course, being Head Boy, he would take the liberty of inviting in Sirius and Peter (Remus was a prefect anyway). That was, if they ever bothered to show up!
He knocked lightly on the door to the carriage, then slid it open and slipped in. He closed it carefully, not wanting to get on Lily's bad side any more than he was already. "Sorry." He said, trying to sound sincere. Sure, he was sorry; sorry that he was on Lily's bad side already. But other than that, he had no idea what he was apologising for.
"Look, Lily, it's gonna be kinda difficult this year if you're constantly angry at me." He 'forgot' to include the part where he stalked her. "So maybe we should come to a compromise? A sort of... truce?" He suggested. Hey, what did he have to lose? If he didn't like it, he'd back out, if he did, then he'd go along with it... for the time being.
"I mean, we have so many duties and stuff together this year, and I think we're supposed to get a seperate dorm and everything - but we'll still be allowed in the Common Room and stuff - so it's better that we come to an agreement now, instead of spending the whole year hating each other." Well, he could never hate her very much. And of course, if he had an idea, he was going to pitch it to her properly.

Brianna smiled, carefully making her way into the small compartment, hoisting her things onto the luggage rack, and setting the ash-colored owl beside the seat located by the window. By the time she had settled herself, James had announced his departure, Brianna giving a curt nod and wave in reply.
This really wouldn't be so bad...she at least knew the two other occupants' names, so despite the fact that they were both seventh years, it would be nice to chat with them.
"So," Brianna began, looking away from the window to face Alexandra and Charisma, "excited?"
Honestly, why did she even ask? Wouldn't you be excited if you were once more attending one of the best schools of magic known to wizardkind? Besides, with James as Head Boy and Lily as Head Girl, how could this year /not/ be interesting? Oh, yes. This term would be very...interesting. Very interesting, indeed.

Post by Chad Winters on Oct 14, 2006 22:40:48 GMT
Chad Winters walked swifty through the barrier of platform 9 3/4, his little sister Addria trailing behind him, although the young girl would protest to being called "little". Their parents were however nowhere to be found. Their father was busy on some ministry stuff and their mother, well she was just always busy. Chad tightened his grip on his trunk as he prepared to push through the sea of people that lay before him. "Sorry... Excuse me" he muttered as he began to make his way to the Hogwarts Express.
Well trailing after her brother wasn't her prefferred hobby, but at least he did a decent job of parting the people so they could both arrive at the train. Addria Winters heaved her trunk through the people and up the steps of the Hgowarts Express, well ok, Chad heaved her trunk up the steps. "Thanks", she said softly before starring down the corridor of the train, the biggest trouble always was "Where to sit?"
Sliding the door open to the nearest compartment with a familiar face, Chad ducked his head in, "Hey Alex, Bri, Charisma", he said ringing the names off perfectly, he would never forget the name of any girl in this school, let alone ones that were attractice.
Addria rolled her eyes at her brother's "charm", and popped her head in the compartment next to his "Alex!" she said happily, "Mind if we join you?" she asked curiously.
