Rules[/b]
1) This is a literate forum. Please be so. This includes being able to post decently lengthed intros and replies. No chatspeak in character, and please refrain from using too much out of character. Grammar and spelling are lovely things so please try your best at both.
2) Mary Sues and Gary Stus are officially not allowed. Not everyone can be the troublemaking Gryffindor girl that has every Marauder falling for her cause she is perfect. Just... no, okay?
3) No god-moding or power-playing. For those of you who don't know what this means, basically all I'm saying is don't take control of another person's character without their permission.
4) Concerning made-ups: you will be sorted by an admin. Please don't be angry or anything if you don't get into the house you wanted. There are to be no veela/animagus/werewolf/vampire or anything like that unless you get permission from an admin, though it is unlikely. Don't try and force your way into a house by dropping not-so-sutble hints every other sentence.
5) Romance: let's keep the boards PG-13. If you want to go do anything further than that, take it to the PMs.
Language: Once again, don't go overboard. Use *s for most the words as some people find them offensive. And we dont want to offend anyone, right? Right.
6) Canons: please, stay true to the characters! Lily is not a party animal and Snape is not the most popular guy in the school.
7) Try to stay as much in the 70s era as possible.
8) When joining, register as your character's first and last name. For example: James Potter is good. Hplover123 is bad. If you want to, go ahead and add their middle name.
9) Do not post in the roleplaying boards while you are waiting to be accepted and sorted. The Admins will try to do this as soon as they can, but patience is a virtue. Meanwhile, there is a special OOC category, just for you!
10) You can have a maximum of three characters, but please try to be equally active on all of them. Also, you will need a different account for each one with their respected names. If you must have another character, and will be able to keep up with all of them, try to persuade an admin, but don't count your owls before they're posted.
11) Most importantly: be respectful of all other roleplayers. Let's act mature about things.
Concerning Applications
Made-Ups
Like stated in the rules (which I hope you read), made-ups will be sorted by admin. This will be based on personality, likes, dislikes, and how your character acts in your roleplaying sample. Do not get angry or throw a fit if you are not sorted into the house you want! Be respectful and polite. There are reasons for everything, remember?
Don't make your character's history perfectly-unperfect. Deceased parents are alright (just not too many, okay?) but don't make it so your character gets beat every night when they go home, has an alcoholic father who killed their mother, cuts themselves all the time, and is starved nearly to death every summer all at the same time. I know it may seemed like I exaggerated a bit there, but you'd be suprised. I know life is not perfect, but don't go overboard.
Your character may not be related to any canon. Nor can they have an insta-love sort of deal going on. Real relationships do not come with instructions saying: "just add water" so don't try and make it so. If your character has a crush on another, don't be so absorbed in it that you roleplay nothing else or with no one else. There is a thing called obsession.
If your character is not accepted (and the Admin will tell you why) you are more than welcome to fix whatever you may have wrong and try again.
Canons
Remember: the Canons do not consist of just the ones we know very well. Hestia Jones, Emmeline Vance, Edgar Bones, etc etc are also canons. Please do as much research on your character as possible if you plan on applying as them. If not much is known about them, do your best and be creative. Educated guesses are better than blind shots in the dark.
If more than one person is applying for the same canon, whoever the admin thinks does the best portrayal will get the job. You are welcome to try again as another character if you are declined.
Concerning rejection: If there is something wrong with your application, an admin will tell you. If it is fixed within the next 3 days, then an admin shall look over it again. If not, it will be rejected.
