Canon or Original?: Cannon
Name/Nicknames: Prongs, Potter
Age: 17
Year:7th
House: Gryffindor
Blood: Pure blood
Description
Hair: Black, messy
Eyes: Round, hazel
Height: About 6 foot
Weight: 155
Overall Description:
James is quite tall, at around 6 feet, but it’s not like he goes around measuring himself, so he wouldn’t know exactly. His height suits him, in his opinion, and he couldn’t STAND being short; he wouldn’t be looked up to as much by his fellow students, and his precious reputation would be tarnished.
His black hair has got to be the messiest possible, though it’s intentional. It sticks up at every angle imaginable, either because he has lately been on his broom, or because he wants it to look like that, so he continually runs his hand through it. It’s not too long, but not short either, it’s more in between, so that it still sticks up instead of hanging down. He never has been able to get it to lie flat, so he doesn’t even bother trying to stop his habits.
His round, hazel eyes are deep and, he likes to think, mysterious. He is mistaken, though, and sometimes, the only time he can properly conceal something is when he’s talking to a teacher or when he’s defending a friend or secret. They are reflected, in the bright sun, in the wire-rimmed glasses he wears.
He is rather skinny and quite pale. He did have a lot of spots during he summer, but thanks to some Muggle thing his Mum recommended, they cleared up quickly and he continues to use his product - What was it? Something weird. Spot kill, that was it – to ensure the absence of the long-time teenage enemy.
Usually, during the summer, he can be found in muggle t-shirt and shorts, or during the winter, sweaters and jeans. During the school year, however, he sports a shirt, amber and claret tie, black trousers and Gryffindor robes, occasionally a scarf if it’s cold.
Every full moon, though, you might notice a difference in him. Like the fact that he has antlers. He is not merely a human-being, loyal friend and all-knowing ruler of the universe, but he’s also an unregistered Animagus, a stag to be exact, hence the nickname Prongs. He isn’t the only one, however; Padfoot (Sirius, as most would know him) is a dog, Wormtail (Peter is his other name) is a rat, and Moony (or, more often, Remus) is a werewolf, though not exactly an Animagus. Together, they are the Marauders and they always know best.
Personality:
James used to be a thingyy and arrogant show-off, especially where a certain Lily Evans was concerned, but lately, he has been trying to break several bad habits, like dangling people in the air (except where Snivellus is concerned, he’s always got a ‘soft spot’ for him).
Despite this, he is still very confident and totally against black-magic (and one Severus ‘Snivellus’ Snape) and is seriously trying to give up his priceless prankster reputation to help get himself on Lily’s good side – thought that has not happened completely, Sirius and the others have made sure of that, and he doesn’t see it happening soon, maybe next Millenium-.
He is constantly running his hand through his hair so that it looks as though he just got off his broom – a look that, he thinks, suits him very much. He really doesn’t know why he’s been appointed Head Boy, but is trying to pull himself together to suit the role more.
He is not good at talking about feelings. At all. One of the many reasons why he and Evans are not already dating is that he used to declare his undying love to her at breakfast every morning. And lunch. And dinner. And everything in between.
Despite what Lily Evans believes, though, he is not a fan of rejection, however much he is used to it. It’s something you just can’t grow to like, even if you do try, though that’s weird and messed up. But he just can’t move on, like other guys! He’s tried dating other girls, but they’re nothing compared to her.
His passion, other than Lily and pranking, is Quidditch. He is a Chaser on the Gryffindor team, but he has stolen a Snitch from the Pitch; Snitches are better for impressing girls (including Lily, hopefully. If not, he’s got to maintain his reputation anyway) and what good is a Quaffle? How easy it is to hide something that size in your pocket.
History
Parents: Gordon + Hazel Potter
Sibling (s): None (no sibling could rival him!)
Overall History:
James Potter is very proud to be another wizard in an unbroken line of Pure Bloods, but is disgusted by the way some other Pure Bloods treat Muggles and Muggle-Borns. It just isn’t right; they’re people too! He thinks that those sort of people need to take a look in the mirror and see that they’re not as great as they think they are.
He is an only child, though was never short of friends due to his confident nature and many talents. His confident nature is probably because he’s an only child, so his parents devoted all their time to him and constantly praised him whenever he go things right.
His Mum and Dad are Gordon and Hazel Potter. Gordon works as an Auror for the Ministry of magic, which is why James hates dark magic – he’s a little scared he might lose his Dad, but had full confidence in him and knows he can beat anyone or anything, and wants to follow in his footsteps after school – and his Mum works as a healer in St. Mungo’s, though he’s never been good with charms. Transfiguration is more his thing.
When he arrived on the Hogwarts Express, he met a beautiful Red-Headed Angel, Lily Evans, who hates him, but he is sure she’ll come around, eventually, so he keeps trying.
He also met a few friends, who turned out to be faithful and loyal to this day, as well as a great laugh. They formed a ‘gang’ to which he devotes every waking hour to, now that he has decided to leave Lily alone, which he hopes she’ll see as a mature gesture of friendship. Or something like that.
Back on topic; they named themselves ‘The Marauders’ and, together, have accomplished many magical pranks, and, along the way, created their best tool, The Marauders’ Map, which will remain unknown to most people.
After a year or two, they discovered that one of their number was a werewolf, but, instead of abandoning him, they worked hard to become Animagi to accompany him during his almost unbearable nights.
His mortal enemy – Snivellus Snape, is tortured on a day-to-day basis, often earning him detention, but it is worth it, just to see the look on Snivellus’ face.
Back in his second-year, he was appointed on of the three chasers of Gryffindor House’s Quidditch team, while his best friend, Padfoot (or Sirius) snagged the Beater’s position, hands-down. Quidditch has got to be one of his favourite hobbies and he’ll do almost anything just to fly.
Sirius would also be the best friend who, just a little while ago, decided to run away from his blood-obsessed family. After James had taken him home one night - like a little boy with a stray dog, which is more acurate than it seems - his parents sort of adopted him as a second son. They had great fun over the summer, and were ready to see the other Marauders again.
Now, back to Lily. He spend about five and a half of his years at Hogwarts annoying her constantly – he can see that now – though at the time he thought he was being nice. Because of this, somewhere in the middle of his sixth year, he tried to ‘grow-up’ a little and be mature around her. Needless to say, it hasn’t worked yet, but he thinks it’s beginning to take it’s toll. He can’t really spend much time without thinking about her and, despite others thinking it’s just a highschool crush, he can’t help but start to think that it could be something more. After all, wouldn’t a crush have faded after 7 years?

There was a loud ‘snap!’ as the door to the Gryffindor, Seventh-Year boy’s dormitory was slammed shut and someone exited through it.
A loud yawn escaped from the open mouth of James Potter as he lay part-asleep in his bed. He struggled to open his round, hazel eyes, reaching across to his bed-side table. His hand scuttled around until it came upon his wire-rimmed glasses, which he picked up and, sitting up, shoved roughly onto his face, yawning again.
He wondered vaguely why he had awoken; usually, he was a rather heavy sleeper. He thought back to the dream he had been having and a small smile graced his lips, a happy twinkle in his eyes as he relived the events of the past week.
His dream had come true – literally, since that was what he had been dreaming about – and Lily Evans, the love of his life, and now, his girlfriend, had /finally/ said yes. /’it’s about time,’/ he mused. It had felt like he had died and gone to heaven, with everyone congratulating him constantly, and being able to have a conversation with Lily without being hexed – though he had to find a way to ditch the crowds and get to the broom closet.
Now, to the current matters; who had awoken him? His eyes danced around the room as he scanned the beds. Two were empty. Moony and Padfoot had snuck out without him. /‘Without me?’/
His two best friends had seemed… distant, lately. Lily was great company, he thought, but out of his old, faithful companions, he was stuck with only Wormtail now, and even he seemed to be acting weird. Remus was always in the library – though that wasn’t much of a change – and Sirius avoided him altogether, not even bothering to make it seem like he wasn’t. James was quite hurt by this gesture, since they had always been close, but he hadn’t had a chance to talk to them yet.
He wondered about checking the Marauder’s Map - the Marauder’s greatest success, in his opinion, though it would remain a secret to most - but assumed that Sirius would have taken it with him. Sighing, he heaved himself out of bed and began to pour himself a glass of water from the jug next to his bed and, conveniently, next to the window.
He glanced out of it and saw two familiar figures. Abandoning his water, he pulled on some clothes over his underwear and rushed out to talk to Remus and Sirius. He stopped to catch his breath – running down seven floors was no mean feat – and vaguely remembered that, as Head Boy –which he had been appointed, for some reason – he should be patrolling.
That can wait. He told himself firmly, rushing over to the two figures. “Hey, guys.” He said quietly, suddenly feeling a little nervous; What if they had a good reason to avoid him? He raked his mind, for the hundredth time that week, trying to find something, anything he could possibly have said or done for them to react that way.
The results were exactly the same; none, zero, nil. He couldn’t think of a single thing he might have done wrong. Well, he’d have to find out the hard way.
