Wand: 12" Mahogany and Hickory blend, Runespore Fang core
Physical Description:
Well, he isn’t exactly brimming with good looks, but he’s not quite ugly either. He’s more in between, savvy? To me anyways. Most consider him ugly.
Right, let’s not get off the subject. His hair is as dark as the night, yet always glistening with oiliness, be it sun or moon. His equally black, yet less oily, thick eyebrows are always furrowed with annoyance at everything that can breath, as well as some that can’t. Under those eyebrows, are two opals called eyes, the iris darkly colored, and brimming with his hatred towards the world; Especially Potty and his gang. His skin is pale, but you’d expect as much from a lad who stays inside all day, either reading, studying, or simply imagining the extremely slow and painful death of the self dubbed ‘Marauders’. Hell, he has to do something that pleases him to a large to a large extent, doesn’t he?
He is usually seen wearing his robes, for he doesn’t fancy muggle clothing much. Although, when it is extremely necessary, it is dark colors. It wouldn’t be quite right to see Severus Snape prancing around in pastels, would it? No, I didn’t think so. He’s not short, nor is he tall, and extremely skinny. And I should assume that is it. Moving on…
Personality: Severus Snape is the coolest guy you’ll ever meet, unfortunately, with an inflated ego. In an alternate universe, that is. Are you still there? I suppose you have considered stopping reading, yes? No, despite how much I adore the Sev god, I know that he isn’t the friendliest person. Ok, he’s downright cold, but that does not falter my unending worship for the guy. Gosh, I always rant on, so sorry. Let’s get onto the actual description of this most awesome character.
You’d be quite lucky to see his face when it’s not twisted into the incantation of a hex, or in a book. Actually, you’d be quite lucky to see his face at all; he’s not the most social person. Quite the opposite, actually. If there were an award for most anti-social, Severus would win it by a long shot. Too bad there’s not, it would be the only award he would ever win. His movements are sharp and purposeful, as are his words. Though, he can tend to be more verbose when an opportunity to insult or injure presents itself.
History[/u]
Parents: Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape
Sibling (s): He’s not quite sure his parents would fancy having another child after him. Really, you can tell how self-appreciative he is.
Overall History: Severus was born in northern Yorkshire, the only child of Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape. Son of a witch and a muggle, Severus received conflicting responses from his parents with regard to the practice of magic. He had an innate talent for it, but his father met any demonstration with severe dissuasion, generally in the form of verbal or physical abuse. His mother secretly encouraged him in his father's absence, however, and provided him with a strong foundation of knowledge and ability.
Tobias was a conflicted man whose love for his wife and child gradually became overshadowed by his own self-loathing and his growing fear of wizardry (and wizarding kind). He compensated for internal feelings of helplessness through external exertions of control and power, which his wife and son suffered until his sudden death in 1970 (of a brain aneurisms). Tobias departed before Severus received his invitation to attend Hogwarts, but he had already done sufficient damage to Severus' small family unit: Eileen was transported to St. Mungo's during his first year at Hogwarts as her own mental instability (from years of abuse and anxiety) finally gave way to madness. Eileen died as Severus entered his third year of schooling.
Developmentally, Severus' childhood experiences shaped his keen sensitivity - around his father, words and actions had to be chosen very carefully to avoid a harmful outcome, and he was always having to listen and watch for small behavioral signs to avoid his father's wrath. He loved his mother, and indeed the only true warmth he ever received in his life came from her. But over the years of abuse from Tobias, Eilieen had become brittle and unpredictable. By the time Severus was preparing to attend Hogwarts, she had become so remote - spending days in bed, sobbing or talking to herself, or sitting alone and staring into nothingness - that she had little interaction with Severus at all.
All of this led to Severus being far from gregarious at school. He never developed a natural proficiency for social situations, but he did learn to manipulate his way through them when needed, much as he had done with his father. He learned to appreciate time alone at a young age, as not being alone usually meant he was in the presence of unfriendly or abusive individuals. His pessimistic attitude toward human relationships isolated him at Hogwarts, and his placement in Slytherin House solidified his reputation as a loner.

My, it was such a wonderful day! The birds were singing, the sun was shining, everything was perfect…. unless you were Severus Snape. How could he have possible escaped the solitude of the Slytherin common room to merely find peace outside to read? How could he have possibly thought it would be better lighting? Oh, the library would have been just fine, if Potter’s Pathetic Possey hadn’t been lurking around there. He knew, though, that Potter wouldn’t dare try anything in front of the mudblood, which was the only reason they were there, not like any of them could read, but there was Black, and he wasn’t quite in any mood to be hung upside down…again.
So this is how he found himself, his back hunched against a tree, his face completely covered by the yellowing pages of a book, so indisputably dusty, that the title was illegible. And although his dark, malice filled eyes were scanning the yellowed pages, his mind was elsewhere. He would not dwell on the here and now as he was often wont to do; instead he created an elaborate fantasy. In this fantasy he was on a semi-tropical island somewhere where it was neither too hot nor too humid. He dressed as the locals in clothes of crisp cotton and bright colors, perfect for the cool breezes of the islands that blew across the skin and chilled the sweat from the noonday sun. Lunch was a fare fit for the pickiest of epicureans. Fresh fruit picked ripe from the vine, the sweetest local vintage, and succulent roast pig fresh from the deep pit and hot coals it was buried in the day before.
It was dreams like this that kept him sane in the intervening times. Times when the world seemed to stand still and quiet. Times when he felt as if he was the last man left alive. But his fantasies were always broken, by the same, highly annoying voice.
